It’s so confusing sometimes to be a girl…

The weirdest coming of age story I’ve ever read, yet somehow extremely relatable? Hating your flaws while wanting to be true to yourself with a dash of sexual awakening is truly the 17 year old experience.

This was a nostalgic book steeped in the cloying, omnipresent, overpowering chlorine aromas that explored the inner sanctum of weird and mysterious habits of swimmers… one I’m all too familiar with after 12 years competing. BEAUTIFUL prose mingles with body horror and a touching coming-of-age story. Best book of 2023 for me thus far.
