This book was heart wrenching and beautiful. I was so engrossed with the main characters. This was such a classic Nicholas Sparks story and had me bawling in public without a care in the world

Nicholas Sparks said this was his best book but I disagree. It is a story of Maggie, a photographer, who is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She is telling the story of her life to a young assistant named Mark. This story is about a 15-year-old girl who finds herself pregnant and is sent to live with an aunt in a rural island in North Carolina. There she gets a tutor named Bryce and of course they fall in love. Bryce is an unusual character, he is nearing 18 years old, is very intelligent and very mature for his age. He is devoted to his family and to his studies and is a budding photographer because it is his mother's hobby. He welcomes Maggie and falls in love with her. He wants to marry her but Maggie declines and of course she goes into labor so she never sees him again. They both agree to meet on her 24th birthday but that can't happen because he is serving in Iraq. Soon after Maggie learns Bryce has died. Maggie is telling the story in 2019 to mark and you may guess that Mark is her child that she gave up for adoption Mark helps Megan at the end of her life. A few things made this a hard novel. First price is an unbelievable character because he is far too wise for his age. Also what children at 15 and 17 decide not to see each other for 7 years. Nevertheless this was a good story.p

“It’s important to remember that none of us is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. All we can do is try to be the best version of ourselves as we move forward. In this case, if he asks, you can tell the truth, or you can lie. I suppose it comes down to the kind of person you want to see when you look in the mirror.”

“But never forget that love is always stronger than fear. Love saved me, and I know it will save you, too.”

“love was the most powerful emotion of all, because it made you vulnerable to the possibility of losing everything that really mattered.”

What an ending! :'(

This book was AMAZING and probably one of my favorite books I’ve ever read! The ending was heartbreaking but so touching at the same time! I will definitely be reading this again in the future!
