This was a cute historical romance. It was pretty straight forward. A duke falls in love with his governess. I prefer my HR to have some humor or sassy characters. This one didn’t have that. It just was.. if that makes sense.

Don’t get me wrong. It was still a good story. It was just a little on the boring side.

Cute read! I enjoyed this book as an easy romp in the Regency genre. There are parts that feel a bit too modern for the historical era but still enjoyable.

It's very disappointing when writers of period romances don't even try to make their characters act, think or speak in period-appropriate ways. Modern attitudes and behaviour are bad enough, in terms of pulling one out of the story, but to use entirely modern vocabulary and syntax is even worse. It's just lazy writing. I will see if the series improves, but am not sanguine.

The book had a great start, good build up and all the right things to carry the story through but if fell flat in the end. I was entertained but I don’t know if I want to try the next book.
