A little tone deaf.
Her story is valuable and I'm glad she told it. The book isn't impressive, but does land on a feel-good place of self-love and empowerment.
Hard not to roll my eyes at her struggle sometimes. Coming from a childhood of deep poverty myself, and having walked through abusive relationships it feels minimizing which is the last thing I want to do, but holy crap it was impossible to not just scream, "GET A DIFFERENT JOB FOR F*$K SAKE.
She didn't cover it in the story, and maybe there was a good reason she couldn't. Even if it was the overwhelming anxiety of letting go of her tiny hold on resources. But crying out loud she could have made more money delivering pizzas full time and avoided like 85% of the struggles she described in the book.
At some point, I stop cheering for hard working people who aren't changing their patterns.

Interesting look into the world of a struggling single mother and the houses she cleans.

Quick, good read. Really makes you stop and think about the broken welfare system and the need for change.
