AHHHH SO SO GREAT !!! The story telling was much more lovable in my opinion in this book than the previous. I think it might be just because I love Percy as a character more than Jason. Either way, this totally captivated me and I finished it in just one night of reading it because I couldn’t put it down. Great laughs and really exciting plot points. I wish the fight scenes were a little longer. But, I understand they needed space for pages, and fights couldn’t last 3 pages long; it just felt like they started and ended very quickly. However, still majorly in love with it and the ending was so so sweet and cute.

so this was actually pretty good. I’m probably missing a lot of details because I didn’t read the physical book but i enjoyed it. I’ll try to read the next book the right way. My favorite character was Hazel. Too bad my library doesn’t have the other books in graphic novel form.

I don't know. 3.5 stars. It's good but graphic novels I guess are just not my thing. The artwork isn't bad, it might be better than the Lost Hero graphic novel.
There were just certain things that were kind of important that kind of weren't given enough representation. Like Terminus. Kind of important but initially he's just mentioned... but he's kind of important. One of the other significances of the scene is how Percy could see a life for himself there in the city.
The scene that's on the cover of the hardcover edition of the novel isn't even shown, it's just mentioned off-hand. Iconic scenes should not be changed.
Some scenes that were skipped were fine (like the whale...), but for some, it makes it more disjointed.
Is it me or are the giant's feet represented wrong? When I think serpent feet, I think of them more like dracaena. If you look at Greek reliefs of the Gigantomachy, you can clearly see they have tails (though they are nude so kids who search up images of reliefs of "Gigantomachy" beware). I guess I misread the description initially.
Other scenes actually worked better than in the novel (Like in the novel: Percy, stop antagonizing the gods already. This is why Frank is told to babysit you).
Also, I'm kind of salty because they go to Canada and they don't even point out when they cross the border or that Frank is Canadian, the only mention of Canada is the Alcyoneus scene.

*4 stars* Percy Jackson is probably my favourite fictional character EVER. This was a good refresher for me on the story, but omg it moved so fast I would be so confused if I wasn't already familiar with the story. I guess it's hard to pare down a 550(ish) page book into a somewhat short graphic novel. I'll probably get around to doing a reread of the whole series before the graphic novel for The Mark of Athena comes out (is that even happening? idk). (library ebook)

This was a graphic novel adaption of Riordan's popular series. I didn't have much interest in reading the series, but I needed a book about/use of mythology for Pop Sugar. So I figured the quickest way of knocking out the prompt was to go with the graphic novel adaption. I'm so glad I did; in graphic novel form I was very invested in the story, as it was all action a bit of political intrigue that I would not have picked up in novel form.
The artwork was technically beautiful and well done, but not emotionally drawing me in. It was the story itself that kept me turning the pages. Although this is a story of how Percy Jackson regains his memory (sssslllloooowwwlllyyy) and unite the seven, I was way more interested in Frank Zhang. OMG, I was so #teamFrank throughout my reading. Frank and his mom's memory. Frank and Ares/Mars father-son conversations. Frank and his Grandma. Frank and Hazel's friendship. Frank and Percy's working relationship. Frank was the clear winner of this story for me.
My library does have graphic novel #1 and #3, so I may decided to read those in the fall, mainly for more Frank.
