(Review repeat from Omens) - I have absolutely the same issue with this book as I had with my first three books so I'm just not going to rehash it for every book in this series since I'm sure I'll feel the same for every book in the series. In a nutshell, universe is fun, characters are fun, relationships are fun there's a bit of steam and darkness. BUT it's too consensual and mainstream to be actually gritty and steamy so it's a bit whitewashed and that's a shame and the writing is a bit subpar.

Without any doubts, the Dark in You series is one of my favourites. I love every single character, especially little Asher. I was really excited to finally read Raini and Maddox's story, and although I didn't find it as enjoyable as the previous books, it is still a 4-star review for me.

Raini had to get Maddox's help to save Khloe's life. She doesn't regret it, but Maddox is becoming more demanding and when angels start killing off the descendant race, Raini is put in the middle of the fight as Maddox's anchor. Maddox needs to figure out his feelings for Raini soon before he loses her for good.

I feel like this one is the best of the spin off books after Harper/Knox's arc ended. My only real complaint is that there's so much here - the angels, descendants, how they're cursed, Raini's gifts, etc - that one book wasn't time to get into everything in any more than a superficial way. This would have benefitted from being a side series, a couple books to really dig into angels, descendents, "upper management", etc in a more detailed way. I wouldn't even have minded Raini/Maddox taking a whole book to really connect, given how standoffish Maddox was.
