I thought Amaya was an interesting character to follow. The book picked up a bit more once we got about halfway through. The ending was great because it fit the characters perfectly, in my opinion.

I don’t usually read mysteries but this one had me! Some nice plot twists, and they did an amazing job with the audiobook. However, the ending wasn’t quite a slam dunk.

My favorite part about this book was learning about Sri Lanka and the wedding culture there. It definitely added quite a bit to the story. The pacing of this book was a little all over the place for me and I felt super hooked at some points and really bored at others. There were quite a bit of twists in this and also a lot of deeper psychological aspects having to do with abusive relationships that added a lot of layers to this book. There were a lot of messy family dynamics as well. This book was honestly just messy in general.

There is a LOT going on in this book. Most I loved, some I didn't. I did figure out the plot twist VERY early on, which as usual it doesn't make me dislike the book. I loved learning about weddings in Sri Lanka, but if I didn't love learning about weddings in other cultures, I may have lowered my rating bc that takes up a LOT of the book. I did find it to be a bit slow, but once we switched narrators I was HOOKED.
⚠️ ⚠️If you're like me and you waited until recently to watch Game of Thrones--depending on where you are in the series--GAME OF THRONES IS SPOILED towards the end of the book!! We just finished the series thankfully, but holy cow I'd have been disappointed had we not finished.
