This book was the textbook for my women’s studies class and I think it’s good for general information, but it’s information about LBTQ issues could be updated. Specifically their section explaining the differences between bi, pan, and poly identities was problematic. It implied that bisexual people wouldn’t date someone who was trans or non-binary. There is also very few mentions of lesbianism and the complex issues that lesbians go through because of the overlap between misogyny and homophobia. Most mentions of lesbians in this book was just “There are many stereotypes about lesbians….but they’re not true!”. I was excited to take this class, but disappointed that this book was our main source of information.
