Najďalej do minulosti historicky situovaná kniha sveta Star Wars vo mne rozbúrala prietrž myšlienok a pocitov.

loved the characters of lanoree brock and tre sana but felt like they could have been developed a bit more- we saw alot of past lanoree in flashbacks but wish there was some more present day character development.
loved the world building despite it being restricted to the tython system and the overall plot was interesting enough

This is my second time reading and I liked it more this time around. It feels a bit like star wars but also very alien from it.
I liked the use of tenses (present tense while in the past, past tense while in the future) I think the slight clunkyness of this, combined with the fantastical elements of Tython made it feel a bit like the epics of this world (odyssey aenead etc).
I liked the idea of the je'dai striving for true balance between light and dark, and the villain being someone who rejects the force.
I also liked the main character, I like that she was flawed and darker than jedi we are used to seeing.
I found the plot a little confusing at times, felt a bit like we were chasing the villains who in turn were chasing a mcguffin. I think the stakes felt real, but I didn't really understand the ins and outs of why.
There's also a wild amount of fat phobia in this book which is just so uncalled for. I knocked off half a star just for that.
I think this book should have been part of a trilogy, or there should have been more stories set at this time. It felt like this book was building to something, there are mysteries that are never explained.
Ultimstely it's not a bad book, it feels unique and interesting and tries something different within star wars which is cool. However I think in the end it was just too different to really resonate.

Themes are very repetitive but overall enjoyed reading and feeling as if you’re discovering something new along with the characters.
Clear cut protagonist and antagonist, but they do not understand each other’s motives, and you can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if they did.

My first Star Wars book - I wanted to learn more about the Star Wars universe as I’m a huge fan of the movies and the tv shows. I started with this book since it is the book that takes place furthest in the past (I’m reading in chronilogical order rather than book release date order).
This was a great book to start off on and learning about the old Je’daii training was so interesting. I can’t wait to continue.

First off, big thanks to Goodreads for their book giveaways getting me this book.
It did take me a couple times to start this book because I'm generally not fond of present tense writing. Once I made a concentrated effort at continuing reading, I found out that it wasn't entirely written that way, I really got into it. In fact, using the present tense to separate dreams/memory from reality was a nice way of doing things.
The plot was good. It was interesting seeing this version of the Jedi lifestyle... Sory, Je'daii. I'm curious to see how the Star Wars Universe opens up because of this.

This book was very enjoyable and I absolutely adored Lanoree's character. The storyline was super interesting and I greatly enjoyed learning about Tython and the ancient Je'daii order. The author did a great job at giving us a glimpse into life for early force users.
