This series is such a fun one! I loved this love between Ewan and Nora. It was so sweet. I loved how he was a big grumpy bear type and she melted his heart. Can't wait to continue the series.

Ewan's story. Ewan is sought out in his cave by a woman that demands he take her to England to her aunt to escape an unwanted wedding. While actually taking her to his brothers they are kidnapped by what appear to be gypsies.

This book came into my view as I was checking it in at the library. Now that I've read it, I think it might have been better to leave this one behind. The story and characters were fairly cheesy. Not only that, but the whole feel of the novel was far too modern. It was obvious the author was trying to write a historical novel without referencing much history. I didn't realize it at the time but this is part of a series. So unless you are a die hard Sherilyn Kenyon fan (who is Kinsley MacGregor by the way), I would pass this up.

While it's not my favorite in the series I did really enjoy Ewan and Nora's story. I also did not expect a cliffhanger. While this book could be read as a standalone, it seems that there is a larger plot going forward that will span across multiple books. I'm sad I'll have to wait so long for Lochlan's story but I can see why as pieces are coming together. The only other disappointment I have with the series so far is the portrayal of anyone who isn't European. The "Saracens" were portrayed as cruel animals in Born to Sin and in Taming the Highlander, gypsies were portrayed in a way that exoticized them, or at least sexualized the one woman in the group. I'm not sure how much it is relevant to the opinions of people in medieval times but reading it gave me an icky feeling.

Nora wants to avoid a betrothal to a man who doesn't love her, so she seeks out Ewan MacAllister for help. Nora needs Ewan to escort her to England so that she can seek refuge with her Aunt. However, Nora does not know that she is replicating a series of events from Ewan's past that continue to haunt him. Ewan fears that falling in love with a woman who is promised to another will cause another deadly feud. I thought the characters were likable and relatable. Love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s writing but could not get into this. Writing style was completely different, didn’t really care for it or the characters.
