This story was so beyond amazing, I can't believe Hurwitz took me on the ride he did. So many jaw-dropping moments, so many great plot twists and mental games and soul-searching revelations. I adore Evan Smoak so much, what a journey he went on in this book!! 20/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!

Sadly, this one was below average for me. The characters were flat and a bit underdeveloped, and the story was almost anime-like (I don't mean that in a good way). I love anime, but this was so off.

It also felt like the author was trying so hard to make references that would appeal to a young audience but failed at that.

I am so grateful to Tessa Talks Books who put me on to this series. It took me far too long to take up her recommendation because, as a rule, I don't read thrillers. I am making up for lost time and working through this well-written, action-packed and emotion-wrenching series as fast as I can!

I've kind of fallen in love with Evan and my romantic little heart is rooting for him and Mia. I'm also hoping we get to catch more glimpses of Joey. I was a little surprised by the almost ending of the book, I wasn't expecting that particular storyline to wrap up in this book.

These books are difficult to review without throwing out spoilers but what I can say is that we see real growth in Evan in this book. It came at a high price but wouldn't have happened without that learning point. I'm intrigued as to where the story will go next.
