Okay so this book was so terribly bad, I don't even know where to start, but I suppose let's begin with the obvious; this author has never met a cat. No one who's actually met one could describe it as ridiculously as this book does. Actually, it would be enough to watch a couple of videos on YouTube or hang on tiktok for a few minutes to know that this animal, whatever it's supposed to be, is not a cat. At all.
Second. Why the hell would the president himself be out doing his dirty work? I'm not gonna reveal if he really was the killer, if you decide to suffer through this book you'll find out yourself, but either way, no matter what he was doing at that house, it makes absolutely no sense that he'd be there doing it on his own. He would have people for that, for many reasons, number one being the one this book is trying to pull off. The president wouldn't risk being seen there. No matter what his reasons for the visit was.
Which brings us to the third thing that made me roll my eyes so hard, I'm not sure they'll ever return to their original position: why the fuck would The President HIMSELF pick up a dude who might have seen him at a crime scene, just to tell him a story about why he didn't do it? First off, that's not ever gonna happen, and second, who would buy it? "Yeah you saw me right before this woman was murdered but it wasn't me. Now I'm gonna drop you off and let you do your thing because this sounds perfectly plausible."
Nope. Not buying it.
And fourth. Shouldn't someone with a condition that makes it impossible to stay awake for more than an hour have some friends and family on speed dial? Someone who can come and pick them up if they happen to run out of time too far away from their home? No this dude, brilliant as he clearly is (I mean he got a cat he barely knew to play dead, he must be damn clever, this one), decides to sleep in trash containers and a dead woman's closet instead of calling someone to let them know that hey, I'm about to fall asleep could you come and make sure I'm still alive when my 23 hours are up?
This might seriously be the most ridiculous book I've ever read. I wish I could give if zero stars because it's really not worth any at all and I so wish the author would step forward with a "Hey guys, this book is a joke. All of it. I'm not really this dumb."
I'm not sure I would believe it, but at least I wouldn't have to keep wondering if a human being really could be this goddamn stupid.

If you're looking for a simple, quick read, I suggust you try this. I received the book as a free kindle download, will look for others by this author. Interesting concept and fast paced. What would you do if you were awake for only 1 hour each day?

This was a sort of a funny read. At first I was hesitate but as I got farther in the book. I saw myself liking it. Its messed up that he is only up an hour a day. Within that hour he has to do everything but he did some stupid things within that one hour. Overall it was good read it!

This story was quite straightforward and simple, not too complex like other particular mystery thrillers. But the final plot twist was unexpected and so good. It was a short read and quite enjoyable. So, I’m not judging it hard and giving it a five star…! Looking forward to reading more of his writings about Henry Bins… This concept of being alive for an hour per day is damn interesting…✌

This is such a fun read, I particularly loved the 'conversations' between Henry and the cat Lassie.
Poor Henry is only awake for 1 hours every day and I'm sure he has better things to do in that short hour tha, get caught up in a murder investigation involving none other than POTUS himself. Yet that is exactly what happens.
The thing that let this book down and cost is that last half star is the plot is a little too far fetched, not Henry's condition but the way the police instantly drop him as a suspect and then allow him to become involved. Also why when you only have so few hours to enjoy life would you be risking them by getting involved in the first place.
Of course there would be no story without all this happening and did I mention it does make for a very fun read, I just feel Pirog pushed the storyline a little too far and made me question the chances it could ever happen.

“One hour. Sixty minutes. Three thousand six hundred seconds. That’s how long I get each day. How long I’m awake.”
My Rating: 4⭐
My thoughts:
What I Liked-
3 a.m. by Nick Pirog is an exciting and intriguing book that captivated me from the first page. The protagonist, Henry Bins, is an intriguing character with a fascinating condition called Henry Bins Syndrome, which allows him to be awake only for one hour a day, from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. This concept is unique and wonderfully implemented, giving a sense of urgency and suspense throughout the narrative.
The plot is fast-paced and suspenseful. The mystery progresses in an entertaining manner, keeping me wondering until the very end. The way Henry utilizes his limited time to investigate the murder is both ingenious and captivating. Pirog's writing style is clear and succinct, making for an easy and delightful read.
I really like the humor peppered throughout the book. Despite the serious subject matter, Henry has moments of lightness that make him sympathetic and likeable. His interactions with his cat, Lassie, are very delightful and provide warmth to the plot.
What I Didn't Like-
While I thoroughly enjoyed 3 a.m. , there were a few aspects that could have been better. Some of the supporting characters felt underdeveloped. I would have loved to see more depth and background for these characters to make them more sympathetic and important to the storyline.
Additionally, the resolution of the mystery, while satisfying, felt a bit rushed. Given the unique premise, I was hoping for a more complex and detailed conclusion. There were also a few plot points that seemed a bit too convenient, which slightly detracted from the overall believability of the story.
Final Thoughts-
Overall, it is a captivating and enjoyable read that stands out due to its unique premise and engaging protagonist. Despite a few minor shortcomings, the book delivers a thrilling mystery with a good mix of suspense and humor. If you're looking for a quick, intriguing read with a fresh concept, *3 a.m.* is definitely worth picking up. I rated it 4 stars and look forward to reading more from Nick Pirog.

This story took me completely by surprise!
I got this story for free on the kindle store and so wasn't expecting much, but once I started I couldn't put it down until I finished.
The premise of the protagonist only being awake for one hour per day is pretty original, and it makes for a very intense and exciting read. After a murder happens across the street, Henry has to solve it along with trying to fly under the police's radar, plus other essentials (e.g. eating enough to keep himself alive), making every one of his 60 precious minutes count before he uncontrollably falls unconscious at 4 a.m. every morning. It was very hard to put down between chapters, as they usually ended with Henry falling unconscious and not knowing how or where (or sometimes if) he was going to wake up.
I knocked one star off my rating because several aspects of this story were unrealistic. For one, even though Henry is described as something of a genius, it doesn't seem very plausible that, with his one hour a day of life experience and education, he would be able to solve a murder easier and quicker than the police. The "romance" of the story felt a bit forced and unbelievable, and I won't even get into the involvement of the president of the United States.
For anyone looking for a quick, exciting, original read, I would definitely recommend 3 a.m. For a free story, you couldn't ask for anything more!
