Boring.
I was initially going to leave my review just at that but I can see why Albert Camus never published this novel. I’m also not surprised that this was his first novel. The Stranger truly is far superior and I’m glad Camus abandoned A Happy Death to publish The Stranger instead. In my opinion this book should’ve been left unpublished, or maybe rather released as a manuscript or document instead, because it’s clear the reason Camus decided not to publish this and releasing the draft as it was rather than reworking it into a novel would’ve been better.
