I liked this one but the more I think about it the more I feel like it was missing something.... I think the fmc wasn't as realistic as the others in the series before this have been--and was also a bit too naive at some points, tho I suppose it fits with her sheltered upbringing??? Idk I just didn't vibe with her as much as with some of the other fmcs from the rest of this series. still enjoyed it tho!

It is what I desire. But also not what I desire," I admit to myself and him. "My heart is knotted."
"Then allow me to untie it." He opens his eyes again. "I do not wish to leave you. I will spend forever with you, whether forever is years, or one last night. If forever is free, or chained."

The tropes
✨Romantasy
🏞️Falling in Love with Knight/Protector
✨Second-Chance Romance
🏞️Secret Romance
✨Witches
🏞️Wolf Shifters
✨Deep Female Friendships
🏞️Forced Proximity
✨"You Came/You Called"
🏞️Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood

I read this during a wolf shifter marathon weekend, and I was excited.. I couldnt wait for the last Married to Magic novel.
But this one missed some marks . Elise Kova fans are well aquainted with the world this takes place in, why was I anticipating another King to show up? Or Vampire Lord? Really it would have been nice for a reprise of all our couples . I wanted more magic in this , because Kova writes it so well. This ending felt like our loved author was tired of this series and happy to close it out. Evander just wasnt as heroic as her past love interests , and our FMC she wasnt as smart as the FMC in book s 1-3. She was a strong witch and I wanted Boss Witch energy.
I still love Elise Kova and will be happy to buy her next book series.

for a stand alone fantasy novel I enjoyed it.  But with having to build this world and a story all within a book can be tricky so sometimes I felt the pace would be off or certain details about the main couple growing their relationship was missing. good neutral
