A lovely story of an adventurous toad who discovers and falls in love with tea. Tungtang is a toad in Muddy River who enjoys exploring. She is challenged by a bully of a crow to venture into town where the people are. While many of her friends think she is foolish, the elder statestoad Grandpa Nutbelch believes she may be the toad who is capable of greatness. Shortly after arriving in town, Tungtang discovers tea, and soon she becomes a connoisseur of the beverage. This turns out to be her ticket to stardom.

This is not a story meant to be taken seriously, so it is hard to quibble with any aspect of it. I did think it a bit of a stretch that a tea shop of this seriousness and apparent prestige (if such notables as Lord and Lady Lobsterpants are customers) would be situated in an unassuming English village. But then, I don't drink tea and I am not English. And I may be overly impressed by a title like Lobsterpants. I also found it incredibly generous of Kamran and Lydia to forgive Tungtang for the damage done to the tea shop's reputation, which had seemed motivated largely by selfishness on her part. Otherwise, the story was charming and the illustrations were fun.

This book was Toad-ily Cute! I thought that it would be a shorter book but was pleasantly surprised that it had many chapters, albeit short ones! Kids are going to love this one!

I did not like the names of the animals though and I think they could have been more thought out and more memorable. They were so bad that I have already forgotten half of them and the main character Tungtang's Grandfather named Nutbletch is probably the worst!

I really enjoyed the well-versed poems throughout the book and I am sure children will enjoy reading them and rhyming about the silly toad who loves tea! I thought the illustrations were adorable and coincided with the pages accordingly as well! I think this author has a thing for frogs and toads but he does a great job showing them in a nonscary. slimy way.

What a delightful read. I was drawn to the book, that was a gift from a lovely friend during my recovery from surgery, because of the topic of tea! Anyone that loves tea has to be a friend of mine, so Tungtang is now my very best friend. Though the names were silly, to say the least, the story was a delight.

Tungtang was not a normal toad, she liked to roam and have adventures. So when the road beckons she sets out to fulfill the prophecy set forth by her ancestors. She finds herself at the Queen Catherine's Olde English Tea Shoppe. She doesn't realize that her life will forever be changed.

If your child enjoys a fun read with fun characters and a happy ending, this is the book for you. Enjoy Tungtang's adventure, she's well worth the read.
