I saw Taylor Jenkins Reid last year talking about this book when it was released. I’m sorry it took 10 months to finally read it. I really enjoyed the story of a tennis champion who comes back to the game at age 37 to retake her title from a younger phenom. The depiction of her drive, determination, and forthright style which cause journalists and others to dub her as a bitch and battle axe will be familiar to every successful woman with similar drive, especially those coming of age in the 80s. And the drive to stay up with younger folks- also familiar. You go girl I kept saying!! I loved the relationship with Carrie’s father and how his influence shaped her game and also her reconciliation with the constraints of age and time and the need for personal connection that occurred by the end of the book.
