The Taste by Alan Orloff
5.0
This book was GREAT! Which seems kind of odd to me considering these people eat human flesh. I love horror and gore in books and movies so this novel was right up my alley. The writing is great, the plot well thought out, and the characters are perfect. I was hooked until the very last page. Alan Orloff, writing as his darker persona Zak Allen, did an excellent job.
Jake comes to Dark Springs, WV after his mother passed away upon the request of his Aunt Cora. Nothing is what he expects when he arrives to meet his Aunt Cora. Not only does he have an uncle that he had never even heard of but a whole clan (literally) of relatives. Finding himself in the middle of a long standing family feud, a group of outsiders are the only thing keeping him grounded. A blood bath is ensuing within the clan with Jake finding himself making some tough decisions, but showing what he is really made of and where his loyalties really lie.
The Taste would make a great movie script. If I could I would give it more than five stars. Yes I enjoyed it that much. Highly recommended read. Mr. Orloff, please write more as Zak Allen!!
