Gotham by Midnight, Volume 1: We Do Not Sleep by Ray Fawkes
3.0
I am a big sucker for books about the history of Gotham, so I was pretty into this toward the end of the first story arc. It did take a few issues for me to get really into it, and the sixth issue was a bit of a let down. Ben Templesmith's artwork can be really lovely. There were some especially nice moments in the fifth issue. It's strength is in atmosphere, and it really struggles to illustrate the narrative at times. It can be difficult to tell what is happening, if there's no dialogue to explain it. The new artist is a good fit for the book, but they could have used a bit more consistency in character designs. It was a bit hard to tell which one was supposed to be Rook.
