I enjoyed this even more than Lot; Washington is fantastic with characterization and setting, though the book is scant on plot, drawing more on backstory than present action. It's a quick and captivating read nonetheless, building intricate relationships through dialogue and small interactions that cement Washington as a talent both with the macro and micro details of multi-cultural life.
