The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin

5.0

i finished this book in the last day of 2019, after postponing reading it for two years. it was gifted to me in 2017. i was waiting for the right time to read it. it travelled with me to the beach (twice), to são paulo, to rio de janeiro, to the serra catarinense, and now to campos do jordão.

i’m glad i waited. i’m glad i read it now, when i was in a place i could truly appreciate the story. it’s about a 12-year-old girl whose ex-best friend drowned, and she finds an explanation for this unexplainable thing in jellyfish. a tale about loss, grief, friendship, family and growing up. loved every second of it.
