Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 4: Original Sin by Brian Michael Bendis

Now that's more like it.

One of my big complaints from this series so far has been that the Guardians haven't really had their own storyline to deal with. It's felt in previous collections like they would be written into a position to be used in a major story event, and then they'd tread water until the event started. And then when the event ended, they'd be dropped randomly back into a holding pattern for next time.

This collection is still a tie in to another event, but it is handled much better. It's the telling of a story that's unknown to many, that doesn't derail any stories currently going on in the series to tell. It does put one on hold, which they get to in the second half of this collection, but it's not nearly as jarring as other attempts have been.

I also have to admit that I really liked the Alien riff they were doing with the second half of the book.

More like this one please.

Also, some of the reviews mention an annual issue which doesn't seem to be present in the hardcover edition I picked up from my local comic store. Didn't see it, so can't say anything about that part.
