Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover

5.0

Colleen Hoover does it AGAIN! I don’t know how, but Hoover can turn a simple love story into an extraordinary tale that leaves you ugly crying at 2 AM. The story takes place over a span of two months between the time she’s forced to move to Texas until her long-waited departure to Penn State. There are no jumps through time, which I could appreciate. The book was not long at all, approximately 329 pages long, a fairly easy read.

The entertainment piece was spot on!
I was drawn to Breyah’s character, her witty sarcasm, and her strength to do what needs to be done. I thought it was really interesting how Breyah could identify so easily with her faults, and her strengths. She was very self-aware!
The part in the story where Breyah has to decide between throwing her education away or leaving her love behind had me anxious. For a minute, I thought she would decide to throw away a full scholarship to Penn State for a summer fling (I know I know, she loved him!). There was a hint of the wrongness of the justice system, however, I wish Hoover had gone a little more in-depth into it.

(SPOILER)
I thought the ending was perfect! She finished university and started her law school (thanks to Samson), Samson ends up getting out of jail early for good behavior. They return to Breyah’s beach house where Samson is informed of his inheritance.

I will be getting my hands on another Colleen Hoover novel ASAP!
