Harleen by Stjepan Šejić

5.0

This was a truly incredible comic in the way that is was written, drawn and the story that it told of how Harleen Quinzel becomes Harley Quinn. We follow her over six months from her being young, unsure and having all the best intentions to a woman disillusioned, reckless and obsessed.

It does not miss the human Harley, we understand her and her descent, her perceptions and justifications. I love how the art is utilized in this way. There is imagery, allusions, cameos and foreshadowing all happening in a way that does not retract from the poignancy of the moments or the central story.

I also loved that we mirrored Harvey Dent becoming Two Face, as their stories have many threads connecting them.

It is powerful, poignant and brilliant!
