From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home by Tembi Locke

4.0

Memoirs really shouldn’t be reviewed, in my opinion, so I’ll give you some thoughts on From Scratch. I probably should have realized it was actually a memoir before I started it, but it’s a toxic trait of mine to go into books blind without looking into them or reading synopsis. I’ll never learn.

First off - I wanted to go to Italy before I read this book, but now I REALLY want to go to Italy. There was something I couldn’t put my finger on through this one that took a star away, that made me not absolutely fall for the story, but I can’t really pinpoint what it was. The story was incredibly beautiful, yet heartbreaking. It really puts your life and your love into perspective.

The audio of this book is read by the author herself, and I highly recommed it. It will leave you yearning for a trip to Italy, reminding yourself to love every minute and stirring up hunger for Italian food! Definitely recommend.
