The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

4.0

I watched the movie before reading this book. I watched it months ago. I'm not sure I'd have liked the book any better if I hadn't seen the movie (or, conversely, liked it any worse), but I think it's probably important to note that the entire time I was reading this book, I just had the movie in mind. I visualised the scenes from the movie. Overall, I came away with the feeling that the movie was an amazing adaptation of a pretty sweet book, and I think the movie also had a better climax - in terms of what happened the climax is the same, of course, but because the format of the book is a series of letters Charlie is writing to a mysterious someone, the climax is basically Charlie writing, "
so basically, I realised that what I dreamed about Aunt Helen is true and now I've been in the hospital for two months
," which... was not really as good as the way it happened in the movie.

Nonetheless, I really liked the book.
