Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
5.0
Don't read this book! It's just heartbreak. Tears spilling, heart stomping heartbreak.
But it was also brilliant so you have to read it. Gahhh, the double standards.
What did this book not do right?!
The emotions, the action, the stakes...everything was suitable and painstaking all the same.
[BEWARE: RED QUEEN SPOILERS]
Aveyard resumes the story right from where we left off in Red Queen. Cal and Mare are running from Maven after escaping the excruciating Bowl of Bones ordeal. Mare has to deal with a new world, one where newbloods sharing silver and red blood exist as well as find them from Julian's list and THEN beat Maven.
No pressure then.
Some might say the beginning was slow and Mare reminds the reader of her ordeal a fifth time too many but it's acceptable because what has the 17 year old not been through.
And that ending. Just gut wrenching. Almost as crushing as the metal collar.
All in all, a perfect sequel to a phenomenal first book. Read it. Cry with me!
