I absolutely love this author and series, so I was really expecting to love this book and although I did enjoy it, I didn’t love it as much as I hoped.

Sorinda as a main character was very interesting. Her inner thoughts and her outward appearance that she displays for everyone is very different, and it’s very jarring to listen to her thoughts and then see her actions. I found this make her very unlikeable and not very relatable, and she has a very grumpy demeanour about her. It just feels like everything is negative with her and it’s hard to see the positive.

It was really enjoyable to be back in the world world, and to see some of the favourite characters I love like Alosa and Riden.

I felt like this book, despite how short it is, felt like two separate books. The first half and the second half. By the second half of the book we have a completely new plot to deal with and it was really exciting but also felt very rushed. The first half of the book really focusses on Sorinda and the little girl who snuck onto her ship (I read this book 4 days ago, and I already forgot her name). it really stalled the romance that was coming and in my opinion, threw off the pacing.

The romance was good, there were some moments that made me smile and excited to see where it would go but overall I wasn’t completely invested in the romance, which is very surprising. Tricia often write stories that make me swoon and this one just wasn’t it for me.

I loved being back in the world, and it was interesting being with different characters, but I just found the ping was off and parts of the rush and other parts felt very limited.
