A short and spooky read in which the narrator attempts to pass a night in the mysterious Red Room of a castle. Warned against it, he enters the room anyway and experiences some rather unpleasant happenings. Short and well written, Wells packs a lot of suspense and tension into this tale which mainly consists of one man inside a room alone.
