Laolao's Dumplings by Dane Liu
5.0
I received a copy of Laolao's Dumplings by Dane Liu and illustrated by Shinyeon Moon from Mac Kids Books in exchange for an honest review.
In Laolao's Dumplings, Millie loves to help Laolao cook and her favourite dish are Laolao's dumplings. The pair gather all the ingredients from Chinatown where Laolao seems to know all the vendors. As time passes by though, Laolao is getting too tired to cook anymore but Millie would like to help out. She wants to make dumplings like she used to with Laolao. With the help of her parents and Laolao's friends at Chinatown, Millie makes the dumplings to share with Laolao. This is a beautiful picture book and story about family, food, community and the ways in which traditions and recipes are passed down from generation to generation.
