Those of you who follow me on Instagram may have noticed that I have had problems getting into the book.
I loved the style it was written in, it was the right measurement of descriptive which, if I hadn't been so confused, would have allowed me to dive deep into the world of Caraval.
The characters were people I couldn't relate to, which I was fine with, considering it is a fantasy novel.
And yes, I just said, I was confused. Believe me, I was paying attention to what was happening, and I could follow until Julian and Scarlett arrived at "Isla de los SueƱos", but after that, I was unable to wrap my mind around what was going on for a couple 100 pages.
Then, it got to the showdown, and everything went boom boom boom. Everything and I repeat E V E R Y T H I N G that confused me got explained with reasoning, that in its own wicked way, happened to make a lot of sense. The ending left me speechless.
So then, when I finished and Goodreads made me rate "Caraval", I gave it a rating that surprised me.
I was confused for 300 pages and at some points, I thought about DNFing the book because nothing made sense to me, but then the ending just blew me away. It's been a couple of days and I still don't have the right words to explain what I feel about Caraval, so I suggest you go, get the book, and find out for yourself!
