The main female character is not very likeable in the beginning but it becomes clear in time how she’s struggled with her persona, what her late husband expected, etc. The main male character is quite likeable and so thoughtful to everyone. So kind. I love the elderly couple in this book. They’re so inspiring. 

The mystery aspect of this book was neither here nor there for me. I appreciated the design element, the growth and maturity, the family issues and dynamics I absolutely loved the special touches done to the house and all the camaraderie.
