This book was so quick and light and just enjoyable. I loved the tropes too so that added bonus points. It felt like a second chance romance even though they never had a first chance before their romance began.
I liked Ava. She didn’t have many things that I didn’t necessarily not like. She was strong and she was so easily likable for me. Reading about the way she was treated from her family was so upsetting and reading it first hand just made it a little more upsetting. The only thing I didn’t like about her was how she had Matthew in a kind of like unfair state, that just wasn’t fair to him, especially when he’d been so forward with her. I also didn’t enjoy how she kept things from him when all he asked was the she trust him and that she be honest with him.
Matthew was so, so cute. The way that he realized that he should’ve fallen for Ava instead of her sister made me laugh. I like how he took a little time to realize the feelings and that when he saw her again he realized how grown up she had become. Time changes people and him realizing that was fun.
Them together was just straight up adorable. I liked how they kept their relationship on the down low and took their time with figuring everything out. But the third act conflict was so upsetting. It was also the first time I could see why it would cause a big spiff to happen. It truly was a miscommunicated thing that could have easily been solved had Ava been honest, and that’s what Matthew’s biggest thing was as well. I like how it was resolved and how she told her family the truth about her and Matthew.
I’m intrigued for the next book and learning about Logan’s story. But that added in part with him was just unnecessary and felt like a way to get his character more into the story iykwim?
Other then that it was an enjoyable, quick and easy read that didn’t require much thinking.
