Read for the Bad Bitch Book Club's February 2024 BOTM.
I enjoyed this book but it felt slow to me which is why I rated it 4 stars. It's beautiful, and heartbreaking, and I really enjoyed it. It just took me some effort to power through. With that being said, I think that's a feature of historical fiction that I typically don't like so I think it tracks to me that I struggled with.
I really loved the story itself and the characters. My book club interviewed the author and it made me like the book even more! Peters is so great and I feel like it made me love the book even more to know that the book was based on her father's story and she intended it to be like a character study of a family that goes through a tragic event.
I will read Peters' next book that comes out in August, as she is such a gem!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, as I think it's an important story and Peters is an amazing indigenous author!
