While the story felt too big to be a novella and was too similar to a mishmash of Stephen King ideas for me personally, it did hold together much better than I expected. The further I get into these splatter westerns, the more I struggle with the dialogue. Multiple authors seem to have a hard time using language appropriate for the time without being stereotypical in regards to race. If this had been the first book I read in the series, it might not have been such an issue, but being the third it feels like a pattern. The violence and gore was great for a splatter story and the characters were memorable. I loved the first book of the series, disliked the second, and this one falls firmly in the middle of those
