The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller
Did not finish book. Stopped at 39%.
Despite having so many elements I vibe with, this just didn't work for me so far and I don't want to keep going. The moment I find myself thinking "I'm so sick of this," I have to admit defeat.
This has a really interesting premise and cool elements, but it's so dense, the intrigue is just not hitting, and I have no connection to anything or anyone.
And, listen, I can do dense. I'm rereading Dune for the third time. I don't mind dense when I care about the characters and I feel that sense of "I will DIE if I don't see where this is going," but this story is missing that for me.
I can't force myself to finish this to see if maybe there's a slight, small, tiny chance that things will turn around for me.
