Did not finish book.

I can’t. I just can NOT. The writing was a no for me from the get but, I’m not a quitter and I wanted to give this book and this author a chance after seeing it recommended by likeminded people.
It’s a no.
Everything was wrong for me.
Like I said, the writing was not it. It felt stilted, uncomfortable, stiff.
The characters, the cha-rac-TERS! NO!
I get the overall idea of the hero growing up isolated and away from his people. I can understand that in many ways he is primitive. BUT I disliked him, no scratch that I outright hated him. And his long, lost family? You’re telling me that they just “stayed away” and “mourned” him AFTER they found out he was in fact living because…you know I can’t even remember what the reason was.
The heroine, Mindy…? No, that’s not right. Carrie? Uh uh. Holly? Nope, not it… hold on, let me look… IVY! She was insignificant.
So, in short, couldn’t finish it. And apparently I am, in fact, a quitter.
