They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears by Johannes Anyuru

challenging dark emotional medium-paced
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes

4.5

Beautifully written. Anyuru’s words find their way straight to your heart, wrapping around it like a blanket, and then pull that beating heart down deeper into your chest. A meditation on marginalized people’s approach to the future. And asks the question — even if you knew what was to come, would you act on it?

Exactly how I like my sci-fi.
