Second Comes War by Lilith Vincent

4.0

Did I squeal and do a happy dance when this landed on my kindle (you betcha!)

Trigger Warnings: Dark themes, violence, and a Why Choose reverse harem with ruthlessly possessive men. In other words, pure perfection!

Second Comes War picks up right where we left off in book one with our female protagonist Chiara shot and feeling betrayed. I admired that the author was able to pen Chiara's vulnerability in a way that did not make her seem weak and broken but rather sentimental for wanting to see the good in her father. This was an absolute necessity in forging what I like to call Chiara 2.0

"What a brutal life this is. The one who kisses you and promises you forever one moment is the one firing bullets at you the next."

The lines between captive and lover, dominant and submissive, have gone to utter shit and, I am basking in the ambiance of complete chaos. Chiara has thrown down the gauntlet and given these four hardened men a choice: live for the past and vengeance or choose her and her love. This may seem trivial, but in a world of anarchy, where anything can be bought but peace, she is their solace, their redemption, and their greatest hope.

"The four of us with one woman at our heart. One woman who trusts us completely. Not a pawn. A Queen."

Just when I thought I could not possibly salivate over four men, the author gives me sides of these men I could not begin to fathom.

"We don't shower you with rose petals and love poems, but every one of us burns with gratitude when you walk in the room, still breathing."

Uhhhh, excuse me while I change my panties, please!

Despite the frigidity and utter insanity of everyone's favorite psycho Lorenzo, we begin to learn more about his past, his motives, and in my immortal words of Elsa, "The cold never bothered me anyway!"

It would be remiss of me to pen this review and not touch on the most important aspect which is that Second Comes War has PLUT! This is the golden combination of PLOT+ SMUT that separates this from other reverse harems for its superior plotline, the headstrong female lead, and her dominant alpha men who would move the earth to protect her.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review!
