Emergency: Two Blue Lines! by Catherine Coles
4.0
Emergency: Two Blue Lines! is the second book in the Seacrest Siblings series of Catherine Coles and it's such a delightful read. This book focusses on family and being vulnerable, along with dealing with unexpected events. Lara Hargreaves is a doctor at the Tasman Memorial Hospital. She commands respect and is a thorough professional. She guards her heart, and most of her actions are guided by making her father proud who's the head of the emergency department. Cut to Kane, who is a young and care-free paramedic working at the hospital on a contract. A hit with the ladies with those killer dimples, he somehow manages to get under Lara's skin. Right from the first page, their chemistry is undeniable, and sparks fly. A tough night at the ER coupled with drinks results in a one-night stand and Lara is pregnant.
I appreciated this dynamic of having an older female character who is well-established in her career. This life-changing event results in the characters confronting their past that's woven with grief, identity and pain. The characters are well-developed, and their growth is remarkable. Lara and Kane's dedication and love for each other is so endearing, and they bring out the best in each other. The ending made me smile, and it was uplifting. A 4.5 star read for me! I can't wait to read more of this series.
A thank you to Catherine Coles for giving me an ARC of this book. This honest review is left voluntarily.
