This book was really weird and interesting. One issue I had with it was just how many subplots there were that didn’t really seem necessary to the main plot and took up a lot of space and made the story get distracted. I also was a little confused by the ending and the way the genre shifted but never really resolved itself.

I understand it’s genre-bending but it suddenly went from mystery to supernatural religious nonsense and then the fallout was like minimal. There’s no explanation of the “dream” and why it impacted the city the way it did.
