I'm not sure why that 60 page account of the battle of waterloo was entirely necessary, but of course Les Misérables is a 5-star read; it is a beautifully written classic set during 19th century France, yet attains it's relevance as a 21st century must-read via captivating commentary on the nuances of revolution, love and morality. This book will probably make you cry, if not from sadness, then from length. It is worth every tear.
