Interesting. Among his premises is the notion that the seemingly irrational behavior of nation states is often rational when viewed from a strategic geopolitical perspective. This includes behavior that runs counter to the public statements of leaders. Another is the premise that great powers, notably the US, need not decisively win wars in order to achieve objectives; rather they need merely to cause sufficient disruption to regional stability.
