This was a great short read that very quickly immerses you into a world of dark forests, gothic castles, and mysterious women. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the setting and towards the end the laying out of vampire lore. What I felt was missing was more depth to our main character Laura and more background to our mysterious stranger Carmilla. Though perhaps that second part is more intentional.
It’s a novella so totally makes sense we don’t get more but that’s what I would have loved along with more of a satisfying conclusion. What we got was not much of a battle but more of a convenient end which felt rushed.
