I really don’t know what number of stars to give this book. Heck, I hardly know what to make of this book. As a fantasy novel, it was awesome. I loved the unique world building. As a romance, I loved it and had a great time. With both halves together…. It just fell a bit flat? I’d get wrapped in the fantasy and mystery to be rudely pulled into a romance and vice versa. I felt like storylines competed rather than complemented. It made the pacing an odd staccato. Very well written and I had a good time when I wasn’t trying to skim pages to get back to whichever element of the book had the most juicy bits at the time.
