Reread notes: This is still before where the books really take off (in my opinion) but god, it's still solid. I think the thing the authors really get right is that they know their characters. You can see a little hint of the background that'll later become important but the bare bones are there: Dom is a problematic fave to end all problematic faves and Seth is so stupid you really wonder how he hasn't gotten confused and chugged a big bottle of cleaning liquid. Is that mean? It's better than he deserves, honestly. Young Seth is the fucking worst and he's only tolerable because his brother is even more awful. Dom's reference to him being a 'pussy eating lowlife' has made me chuckle for a whole year now. Heterophobic icon.
I'm very impressed by how much dread I felt in the third act. Even when you know exactly what's going to happen the tension is palpable and I found myself rushing myself because I couldn't bear how things were coming together.

Everything about this series is so bad but I have so much fun reading them? This must be what straight women feel like when they read their abusive alpha type romances. Like I don’t condone a single goddamn thing about these two but oh my god am I cheering on their bullshit.
I feel like this book went by even faster than the first one but I still have a full camera roll of things I took screenshots of to bother my friends with. “Disgusting pussy eating lowlife” is now being used enthusiastically by the group chat as a slur for straight men.
I really had some doubts about the overall quality of such a long running series but two books in and I’m still pretty fucking invested.
