What a wonderful, wonderful book! The entire time I was reading this, I felt like I could imagine Hansen smiling in the background.
As someone who deals with anxiety and depression, and has had a very difficult relationship with exercise, reading this was such an important experience. Movement is an intrinsic and important part of being human, without which our entire being, physically and mentally, begins to decay. Hansen approaches the subject in a professional manner that creates credibility, while also being very down to earth and approachable. I loved his discussion on how humans aren't necessarily always motivated to move and exercise, because our brains are hardwired to save energy and calories. This is something that is still stuck in my head over a year and a half later, helping to motivate me to go out and exercise on a daily basis.
Most mind-blowing takeaway: that exercise helps relieve depression just as well, if not even better, as antidepressants. Like... what? I wonder what our world would look like if doctors were prescribing jogs, rather than pills.
