An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn

4.0

I mean its not a romance novel if there isnt dramatic miscommunication. There is a level of attempting to be historically accurate in these books that makes the characters unlikable when read with a modern lens.

I loved this story in the beginning... a LOT. its a Cinderella retelling and I was absolutely here for it.
However by the end they really make Benedict really unlikable.... and I had this issue with the first book too... there is a really dramatic fight and a really fast resolution in a way that feels ridiculous... even for a romance.

regardless the series is fun and delivers exactly what I expect and have an addictive pace to them that I read them in 1-2 sittings... hence the high rating. I enjoyed myself the entire way through even while hating on Benedict by the end.
