The Loved One by Evelyn Waugh

4.0

Very dark and filled with a range of characters, none of whom seem terribly well-suited to life away from the undertaker firms for whom they work. It’s a slight piece of work - barely the length of a novel - but contains some fantastic humour and situations and turns a tepid love triangle into a black farce that borders on the horrific by story’s end.
