Arden's prose is stunningly beautiful. Reading The Bear and the Nightingale is like reading poetry. I could not get enough of this and felt dread when I reached the last page - I wanted more and more!

I've never been interested in fantasy and magic and magical creatures, but the way that Arden sculpts Russian folklore is so beautiful and appropriate to this time period, I appreciated the addition of magic to this fairytale.
