Nightmare Abbey by Thomas Love Peacock
3.0
I originally picked up this book because I liked the cover (my copy is different than the one displayed here) and I thought the name was amusing. I had to look on Wikipedia to found out what it was about, but deciding that I liked the idea of a satire on gothic romance novels, I bought it. I was not disappointed. Thomas Love Peacock does a skilled job at blending the tropes of those novels into characters, situations, and ideas that satirize novels like Wuthering Heights. Although, I can't help but think I would have gotten more out of it had I read this in my British Literature II class which is why I give it 3 stars.
